I wish I had a true before picture of our ceiling fan but I don't. You can see the colors though in the pre-painted shots...brown with nasty brass accents. It was not pretty.
I decided I wanted to try to paint it, and thought it'd be cool to go for an old "vintage metal fan" look...like the old fans you see in movies in warehouse buildings. That's what I was picturing in my mind.
We ended up using Rustoleum's hammered metal paint, which I LOVE the finish of. The man talked me into a shade darker than I intended to use, so it didn't turn out exactly as I had envisioned, but this color matches our home and decor better, so I'm glad I went with it.
Here's the process...
1st, I had the man take down and disassemble the ceiling fan. This was DEFINITELY a job better left to him. That thing was HEAVY! I then proceeded to clean the heck outta this thing, piece by piece. Take note of the beautiful brown & gold color combo. **gag**
Then, after laying out all the pieces on cardboard, I painted...no priming or sanding. Just a good cleaning and off to the races.
Then, let the man put it back together (glad he was paying attention when we took it apart! ha!) and hang it back up...TADA! Totally changed the look with an $8 can of spray paint. Yes...steep price for spray paint, but worth it in my opinion! Updated and redone! LOVE IT!

Wow! That is amazing! I love how it looks now. It is really different and unique. To be honest, it looks expensive lol! Now I am going to talk to my hubby about simply painting our fan instead of spending 60 bucks or more on a new one!
